4th Grade Science- Gravity and Friction
Mrs. Williams class participated in a STEM lesson connecting engineering with their science TEKS. The students were tasked to build a structure out of LEGOS. That structure needed to be big enough to fit a LEGO mini-fig and be able to have string run through it. The students spent some time, working in partner pairs, creating their structures. They then put their structures to the test to see if they could slide down the string zip-line. They quickly realized that the angle (slope) of the string and then type of string altered how the structure moved. Overall, the students really enjoyed designing their LEGO structures and putting them to the test.
