RRISD Elementary School Hours:

The required school hours are 7:40 am – 2:55 pm.

Class begins at 7:40 am. It is very important for your child to be in the classroom at 7:40 am when our school day begins. If they are NOT in the CLASSROOM at 7:40 am they are counted as tardy. 

When students arrive at school late can impact them for the rest of the day. They have missed out on important information and learning opportunities when they arrive late.

 

 

 

 

Technology Learning Applications Permission for Use

Throughout the year, we will utilize online applications that will enhance the learning of your child and support and reinforce the concepts we are teaching in class. Before using these applications, we want to make you aware of federal laws and regulations that apply to the use of technology to support classrooms and require parental consent.

Dual Language Programs are those where students are taught literacy and content in two languages. The RRISD Dual Language Program goals are the same for both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers.

In the dual language program, the focus is to transfer language skills to develop bi-literacy and not to transition into one language instruction. In this way, all students become bi-literate, bi-cultural and bilingual.

At Voigt Arts Integration Academy we follow the 90/10 immersion program:

In this model, Prekindergarten and Kinder students are immersed in Spanish for the majority of the instructional day. All students in the program learn to read and write in Spanish first. Every year the student’s English instruction increases and the Spanish instruction decreases until 3rd, 4th and 5th grade where the instruction is 50% in Spanish and 50% in English.

Family Engagement Policy 2022-2023

Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy 2022-2023 

The faculty, parents, staff, and community members of Voigt Arts Integration Academy developed and agreed upon the following written policy for parent and family engagement during their yearly development and/or review of the District Improvement Plan. 

I. The Parent and Family Engagement Policy will be distributed during the first six weeks of the school year to all parents at Title I campuses.

II. It will be the responsibility of school staff to establish a two way communication process with parents regarding their children’s academic progress. This should include, but not be limited to: progress reports, report cards, face to face conferences, telephone calls, notes, newsletters, etc.

III. The district and the schools will make every effort to communicate with parents and families in a language that is understandable. Communication with parents may include, but not be limited to homework, school messenger, electronic mail, newsletters, meetings, etc. 

IV. All Title I Campuses will hold an annual meeting during the first six weeks to discuss the Title I schoolwide programs with the parents and community members.

V. Parents and families will be given the opportunity to provide input and make recommendations regarding the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP), the Title I program, and the Parent and Family Engagement Policy through the Parent Advisory Council, at parent meetings.

Título I Política de participación de padres y familias 2022-2023

La facultad, los padres, el personal y los miembros de la comunidad de Academia de Integración de las Artes Voigt desarrollaron y acordaron la siguiente política escrita para la participación de padres y familias durante su desarrollo y/o revisión anual del Plan de Mejoramiento del Distrito.

I.La Política de participación de los padres y la familia se distribuirá durante las primeras seis semanas del año escolar a todos los padres en las escuelas de Título I.

II.Será responsabilidad del personal de la escuela establecer un proceso de comunicación bidireccional con los padres con respecto al progreso académico de sus hijos. Esto debe incluir, entre otros: informes de progreso, boletas de calificaciones, conferencias cara a cara, llamadas telefónicas, notas, boletines, etc.

III.El distrito y las escuelas harán todo lo posible para comunicarse con los padres y las familias en un idioma que sea comprensible. La comunicación con los padres puede incluir, entre otros, tareas, mensajería escolar, correo electrónico, boletines, reuniones, etc.

IV.Los campus de Título I llevarán a cabo una reunión anual durante las primeras seis semanas para discutir los programas escolares de Título I con los padres y miembros de la comunidad.

V.Se formará el Consejo Asesor de Padres (PAC) de todo el campus y se reunirá al menos dos veces al año para compartir las actividades del campus, los recursos y evaluar los programas de Título I del campus.

VI.Los padres y las familias tendrán la oportunidad de dar su opinión y hacer recomendaciones sobre el Plan de Mejoramiento del Campus (CIP), el programa Título I y la Política de Participación de Padres y Familias a través del Consejo Asesor de Padres, en las reuniones de padres.
